Mikel Arteta does not budge from his assessment of players.
Despite an impressive loan spell to OGC Nice, William Saliba is yet to impress the Gunners boss enough to earn a spot in his team.
Last season, Arsenal fans saw Saliba waste the first six months play youth football for the club’s U23 side. He did not even feature in cup games or even make the squad when senior players were injured. Subsequently, he was loaned back to France where he finished the campaign with a nomination in Ligue 1’s team of the season list.
Many were expecting to see Arsenal repair their broken relationship with the player this summer and finally give him a chance in the first team. However, several sources claim that Arteta is looking to send the teenager out on loan once again.
Arsenal are already aiming to bring in a starting centre-back while they have the likes of Rob Holding and Calum Chambers already present and capable of covering the right-hand side.
Saliba, an £27m investment from three seasons ago, is a subject of interest from Newcastle United, Southampton and many other European outfits. He only has two more seasons left on his contract and there is high chance of him leaving North London without featuring in a single game for the Gunners, a club he has grown up supporting.
