Arsenal seems to won the race to sign Willian from Chelsea.
The Brazilian winger joined Chelsea back in the summer of 2013 when he came to England and has been a hit in the Premier League in the last seven years.
He has now come to a contract stand off with Chelsea this season. The Blues are prepared to offer a 2-year extension but the player has been demanding a 3 year extension.
However, it did not work out for him and it allowed multiple clubs like Barcelona, Madrid, Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal to come swooping for a chance to sign him for free.
It seems only the Gunners are in the lead now as they have offered him a three-year extension and will keep him as a squad player.
However, there is a trick to the current situation. The Blues were keeping him on a £120,000 per week and a two year extension on that would have seen him make £12.9 million but at Arsenal he will be getting a reduced salary of £100,000 per week for three years which will see him earn £15.6 million in three years.
The situation seems set for Willian who will now follow the steps of Luiz to join Arsenal from Chelsea.
