Oleksandr Zinchenko appears poised for an early return to Arsenal, with his loan spell at Nottingham Forest failing to deliver for either party.
“We’ve Spoken to Him”: Dyche Hints at Zinchenko’s Impending Exit
The Ukrainian defender, who joined Forest on a season-long deal last summer, has struggled to secure a consistent role and could see his move terminated this month.
Forest manager Sean Dyche confirmed ongoing discussions with the player.
“We’ve spoken to the player, made him clear on his situation,” Dyche stated.
“He’s aware of that so we’ll see what happens.”
The 29-year-old has managed only ten appearances since his September arrival and recently lost his place in Forest’s Europa League squad.
Dyche emphasized his direct approach, saying, “I’ve just been open with him…telling him the truth, as I see it.”
He acknowledged Zinchenko’s professionalism but highlighted the practical reality of limited playing time.
Zinchenko’s stint at the City Ground has been notably disrupted. He has already played under three different managers since his deadline-day signing.
Further complicating matters, a spell of injury hampered his integration. “That hasn’t been helpful to him or to us,” Dyche admitted.
The defender’s last outing ended at halftime during Forest’s shock FA Cup exit to Wrexham last Friday.
He will also be ineligible for this weekend’s Premier League match against his parent club, Arsenal.
This potential recall leaves Mikel Arteta with a decision to make. Zinchenko returns as a known quantity, offering experienced cover and tactical flexibility at left-back or in midfield.
However, his match sharpness is in question after a fragmented few months.
For Zinchenko, an early exit from Nottingham offers a chance to reset and fight for his future, whether at the Emirates or elsewhere, ahead of the summer transfer window.
