Unai Emery Opens Up On Potential Aaron Ramsey Replacement

Former Premier League player Andy Gray feels that Arsenal should be focused on signing a replacement for Aaron Ramsey during the summer. Ramsey will leave Arsenal and join Juventus next summer. He has been in terrific form for the Gunners lately and his departure will be a big blow to Arsenal.

Andy Gray feels that Matteo Guendouzi should be given some time as he is only 20 now. Guendouzi signed for Arsenal from Lorient last summer and has done pretty well for the club so far. However, Gray feels that due to Guendouzi just starting his European top flight career, Arsenal should consider spending money on an experienced midfielder as a replacement for Aaron Ramsey.

Gray said, “Well you probably start at £40m – start at £40m. If you want to replace him for what he’s got now. Listen, Guendouzi may be a player who comes in and in three or four years time he might be the new Aaron Ramsey, we don’t know that. He’s a young kid, they brought him from the second division in France.

He looks a talent but he’s miles away from being Aaron Ramsey. So they’ve got to either wait two or three years to see if Guendouzi can become an Aaron Ramsey, and that’s not a given. Or they’ve got to look at and think ‘we’ve got to spend £45-50m to get a midfield player that can do what Aaron Ramsey does for us but will be doing for Juventus next year’.”

Guendouzi came on as a substitute during Arsenal’s Premier League fixture against Watford on Monday. It will be interesting to see whether Unai Emery starts him tomorrow against Napoli.
