Arsenal ace backs the club to win the Premier League this season

The player wants his teammates to aim as high as possible

Arsenal finished 6th in the Premier League last season, 37 points behind the champions Manchester City. As a result they will again miss the Champions League this season after missing last year as well.

Unai Emery was appointed as club’s new manager back in May after Arsene Wenger decided to leave the club after 22 years at the end of the season. He signed a three-year deal worth £15 million.

The Spaniard was given the charge with the task of returning the club to the European elite while challenging for other major honours. It has been a busy transfer for the Premier League giants, as the new boss has brought in new five players, reinforcing the particular areas which needed strengthening.

Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria, Matteo Guendouzi from Lorient, Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen, Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund and Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus.

However, the Gunners were reminded of the ground they have to make up with a 2-0 opening day defeat by Pep Guardiola’s side. And they will face Chelsea in their upcoming match, who started off on a positive note after beating a 3-0 win over Huddersfield.

Guendouzi, who made his debut on Sunday following a £7 million summer move from Lorient, has backed the the London outfit to win the Premier League this season.

“Yes, I believe we can win it this season because of the players and staff we have,” said the 19-year-old as quoted by Standard Express. “We truly believe and will do everything we can to win as many games as we can and to have a fantastic season. I truly believe we can do it.

“Man City are a top team but there are a lot of top teams in this division because the Premier League is the best league in Europe. There are plenty of others but we can be very positive and achieve good things this season. We can win titles because of the environment we have here and the quality of the players at our disposal.”
