Arsenal have reportedly agreed to pay £36 million to land Gremio forward Everton.

The 23-year old forward made headlines during the Copa America in which he was the top scorer with three goals and two assists. There were two matches in which Everton scored and assisted and both those matches were against Peru (including the final).

Everton was the joint top scorer of the tournament along with Peru captain Paolo Guerrero but he won the Golden Boot because his playing time during the competition was lesser than that of Guerrero.

Everton’s performances during the Copa America has attracted interest from Arsenal. The Gunners are willing to pay Gremio £36 million to land Everton according to FOX Sports. According to the report from FOX Sports, Everton will undergo a medical at Brazil.

Arsenal have made only one signing this summer who is Gabriel Martinelli. Unai Emery said that Arsenal are looking to sign three of four more players. Speaking ahead of the Gunners’ ICC opener against Bayern Munich, Emery said: “We are being patient and calm because we really want to sign players who can help us with a big performance, and also because we think in the team we have very good players and young players. We also need to take the best player in some positions.

“Really, I can say to our supporters that we are going to have a very good team with the players that are there now and also with three or four players who can help us in a few days.

“We are speaking about the big players and because we are starting thinking about our team and our squad now. We have very good players and very good young players that can progress and make big performances with us.

Arsenal are certainly not in a good position to sign Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney as they’ve had two bids rejected and Neil Lennon has said that the Gunners have not met Celtic’s valuation of Tierney.

Provided Arsenal do manage to sign Everton, it will be a major addition to the squad in their quest to finish in the top four of the 2019/20 Premier League.
