According to Christian Kofane’s agent Eric Depolo, Arsenal is the front-runner to sign the striker for Bayer Leverkusen this summer. After joining the Bundesliga team from Albacete last summer, the Cameroonian star has already contributed 15 goals in 39 games.
After Kofana’s impressive performance against Arsenal in the Champions League round of 16, his representative has now stated that the Gunners are intrigued. In an interview with Daily Arsenal, Depolo said that Mikel Arteta, the manager, is very fond of his client and that the London giants have a “genuine” interest in him.
He continued by saying that Arsenal is in “pole position” to sign him and that he has already spoken with the Gunners about a potential transfer. “Yes, Arsenal’s interest is genuine,” he declared. Mikel Arteta, the manager, thinks highly of him.
“I believe it’s too early to say, but I would say Arsenal is in the lead since players like Mikel Arteta speak Spanish and William Saliba is originally from Cameroon.
Arsenal interested in Bayer Leverkusen striker Christian Kofane
Christian Kofane, a 19-year-old striker for Bayer Leverkusen, is being pursued by a number of teams, including Arsenal, according to Sky Sports, following his breakout Bundesliga campaign.
Last summer, Kofane completed a contentious transfer from Spanish Segunda team Albacete Balompié. He emerged from Leverkusen’s training camp thanks to a significant makeover.
He scored in consecutive Bundesliga starts in October when Patrik Schick was hurt early in the season, and he did it again this week. His league goals total five.
In 39 games in all competitions, he has seven goals and eight assists. He accepted an AFCON call-up and scored two out of four after first rejecting advances from the Cameroonian federation.
After a recent update, his projected market worth has increased from €5 million upon arrival to €40 million. According to the report, the price was between €60 and €70 million, but Leverkusen paid €5.25 million.
