Arsenal Believe Mavropanos Is Already Good Enough For The First Team

Arsenal youngster, Konstantinos Mavropanos has returned to training and the club’s coaching staff believe that he can be the answer to Unai Emery’s defensive concerns.

Arsenal’s obvious problems this season has not been in scoring the ball but in defending their own net. They have conceded 31 goals in 21 Premier League games which makes them the 11th best team in the top-flight in defence.

With that tally, it will be hard for Emery to make a run for the top four spots in the second half of the campaign. The Spanish boss has already stated that permanent additions will difficult this January due to the lack of funds.

However with both Shkodran Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny performing at lower levels than expected does not help the scenario at Emirates at all. Rob Holding is not expected to show up on the pitch for the remainder of this season and Calum Chambers cannot be recalled his loan spell with Fulham.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos can hardly be relied upon to do everything at the back. Mavropanos has returned at an ideal period to prove his real talents.

The 21-year-old Greek centre-half was one of Arsene Wenger’s final additions as Arsenal manager and he has already shown glimpses of star potential to the fans. He is expected to feature for the club in the next U23 fixture against Manchester City but Emery might call him up for more senior team action soon.
