The discussions between Arsenal and Ajax defender Jurrien Timber have been “very positive” because the Dutchman “wants to make a move to” the Gunners

Last summer, when Manchester United tried to sign the talented defender, they were unsuccessful, which left Mikel Arteta and company free to pounce. Fortunately for Arsenal supporters, Timber appears eager to leave his current club after three seasons and move to London from Amsterdam.

Despite having their initial £30 million deal for the 22-year-old denied, The Daily Mail said that Arsenal are the clear front-runners for his services. Fabrizio Romano, however, has verified that Timber’s present employers, Ajax, have received the north Londoners’ second formal approach. Fabrizio Romano informed The United Stand that United had rekindled its interest in the person it had been pursuing since last summer.

“Manchester United is constantly kept in the loop with Timber. The biggest Timber supporter in football is Erik ten Hag, a superb center-back. How much Timber would cost would depend on Ajax, he said. The Dutch tactician is still considering Timber as a backup option and is hopeful that his former star will be drawn to Old Trafford because of their existing friendship, according to journalist Rudy Galetti, who recently spoke with GIVEMESPORT.

David Ornstein claims that Ajax is asking £50 million for one of their prized items. Given that he can play either in the middle or on the right side of the defence, his high asking price is based on both his performances and his adaptability across a back four. Given their deficit at the end of the last campaign, the Gunners are still in need of additions, particularly if one of their starting centre backs is out due to injury.

He completed 8.62 progressive passes per 90, ranking him in the top 1% of centre backs in domestic leagues following Europe’s top five, and made 2.38 progressive carries, according to FBref. The 15-cap Netherlands international’s Eredivisie match rating according to Sofascore was 7.03, but the Premier League beckons as an Arsenal transfer draws nearer.
