Arsenal closing on second signing after agreeing terms with Aaron Hickey

Arsenal are claimed to have agreed a deal with Bologna which will see Aaron Hickey join the club this summer

The Gunners negotiated a deal with the same side last summer to bring Takehiro Tomiyasu in, a move that seemed to be a masterstroke until he moved to miss most of the season through injury, and we now appear to have returned to Italy to sign a player to fill a role on the opposite side of the defence.

Hickey took a brave decision when he left Scotland to join the Rossoblu just after his 18th birthday, having previously won a spot in the Heart of Midlothian team, and he has truly come into his own this season.

It was a tough start for him in Italy, with minimal first-team playing time, but he has truly proven his worth to the side since the summer, and a number of major teams have been linked with his signature. Arsenal, on the other hand, is said to have reached an agreement with his present club.

We can’t help but be happy about this probable signing, as his presence will almost certainly put an end to Nuno Tavares’ aspirations of playing for us next season. I believe the Portuguese will be allowed to move on loan in order to attempt to capitalise on his raw talent, but Hickey appears to be the more important player.
