The Gunners have just confirmed their most awaited summer signing.

Arsenal have completed their second summer signing with the arrival of German goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

Leno joins the club on a reported five-year-deal for a reported €22m from Bayer Leverkusen, where he spent the last seven seasons.

Both clubs have confirmed the deal on Tuesday evening.

The 26-year-old will be direct replacement for departing Columbian goalkeeper David Ospina.

The German shot stopper has won six Germany caps but did not make the squad for the ongoing World Cup.

Leno is expected to compete with veteran stopper Petr Čech for a starting place as the new number 1.

Arsenal’s new manager Unai Emery said:

“We are very pleased that Bernd Leno will be joining us.”

“Bernd is a goalkeeper of high quality and experience. He has been a top performer and regular number one goalkeeper with Leverkusen in the Bundesliga for the past seven years.

“We are all excited that Bernd has chosen Arsenal Football Club and look forward to start working with him in pre-season.”
