Arsenal have reportedly begun negotiations with Eintracht Frankfurt for Andre Silva.
Mikel Arteta wants to reinforce his attack as a few names head their way out of the Emirates.
Alexandre Lacazette, with one year left on his contract, is expected to depart along with veteran winger, Willian. The Brazilian’s free signing from Chelsea has not gone according to plan and the Arsenal fans cannot wait to see the back of him. With both exits clearing out a significant amount of the wage bill, The Gunners will have space for an additional name.
Silva just underwent the best season of his professional career in Germany. He went toe-to-toe with Erling Haaland for the Bundesliga Golden Boot only to miss out in the end. The Portuguese international scored 29 goals in 32 league games while also forwarding 8 assists.
At 25, he seems to hitting his peak and primed for a move to the Premier League. Arsenal need to bring in a forward who can play with the ball at his feet, a skill Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang struggles with.
Whether Silva’s addition will mean Aubameyang taking a step back still remains to be seen. So far, we can tell with certainty that it was Aubameyang’s sub-par season that provoked Arsenal to go and look for a striker in the first place.
