If Juventus receives a point deduction on Monday, Arsenal would gain and Juventus might lose out on the Champions League

According to Corriere dello Sport, Juventus will be penalised on Monday for what the federal prosecutor is requesting to be anomalies in the club’s payments to players and improper interactions with other clubs and players’ agents. The penalty might range from 9 to 12 points.

Juventus has previously been convicted, and they were successful in their appeal against a prior 15-point penalty, which brought up the current hearing. Juventus would, however, be eliminated from contention for the Champions League if they fail this time. To finish in the top four in Serie A would be nearly impossible with even a nine-point penalty.

That would be advantageous for Arsenal, who are still unsure of which pot they will land in for the Champions League draw the following year. Teams are divided into four pots for the Champions League group stage draw, with Pot 1 reserved for various league champions and 2022–23 European title winners, and the remaining pots chosen based on each club’s UEFA coefficient.

Although there are still many variables in play, Arsenal would currently be in Pot 3. Thus, the Gunners would select a team from Pots 1 or 2, which are home to the majority of the top teams in Europe, when the draw is made. Right now, teams like Real Madrid, Juventus, Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, RB Leipzig, and FC Porto are expected to be found in Pot 2. Also in Pot 2 will be Manchester United, but Arsenal cannot draw them. Arsenal would avoid playing any of the other Pot 2 teams if they were able to slip into Pot 2, drawing a team from Pots 1, 3, and 4. That brings up how Arsenal is impacted by Juventus’ Champions League participation.

If Juventus receives a sanction and withdraws, another Serie A team, most likely fifth-placed AC Milan, would take their place. Milan does not have a higher coefficient score than Juventus, but Arsenal does. Juventus would therefore be in Pot 2 before Arsenal, but if Milan were to qualify, Arsenal would advance to Pot 2. Arsenal still has several opportunities to advance to Pot 2. It would be helpful if Inter Milan wins the Champions League final or if one of the teams that is presently predicted to qualify withdraws.
