Arsenal’s youth team has been phenomenal through the years and the likes of Saka, Emile Smith Rowe, Folarin Balogun and Joe Willock have all come through the ranks.
Saka has established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League bagging 12 goals and 10 assists this term.
U-18 coach Jack Wilshere believes it is crucial for Arsenal to produce more academy stars in the coming years.
“Arsenal are probably under a little bit more pressure because of the tradition that we have of bringing through good young players. That’s the key — good,” Wilshere told Standard Sport.
“Look at [Bukayo Saka]. He is arguably, in my opinion, England’s best player, England’s most dangerous player. He is affecting games in the Premier League.
“And he has come through our academy. That tells you how big the job is and how much pressure there is to put forward the next B.
“But with the vision of [academy manager] Per [Mertesacker], the way he sees things, I have no doubt that in a few years there will be the next one and then the next one.”
