The latest reports claim Arsenal are in line to receive Yan Couta in the coming days.
The 18-year-old is set to be sold off by his parent club, Cortiba this very January.
Interests are high for the teenager as club president, Samir Naimur claims three clubs are fighting it out for his signature. Arsenal are thought to be leading the race with Bayer Leverkusen also competiting.
Couta plays in the right-back position and would the perfect addition into this new Gunners side. Arsenal are struggling at the positiong with Hector Bellering out injured and Ainsley Maitland-Niles filling in as a makeshift option.
Couta’s agent claims that a deal would end up costing €5m (£4.26m). That is ideal for Arsenal since they are not willing to spend much in January transfer window anyway. Mikel Arteta has only been alotted a small sum to mostly make loan signings.
The Gunners took note of Couta’s talents after his performances in the U17 World Cup. The young right-back featured in 5 games and provided 2 crucial assists to help Brazil reach the finals. He could fill in as an understudy to Bellerin in the long-term but will immediately be fit to play in key games.
