The latest reports from Greece claim that Sokratis Papastathopoulos has picked up an injury during the international break.
This is concerning news for Arsenal since it has only been a few weeks since their star defender made his return from an injury.
The 30-year-old had to overcome an ankle issue to collect crucial wins for the Gunners against Southampton, Bournemouth, Manchester United, Stade Rennais and a draw against Tottenham Hotspur.
However, the same ankle seems to be acting up since he has been diagnosed with body oedema. It is being reported that the defender is currently in pain due to swelling in the area.
Currently, Arsenal have no control over how Sokratis gets treated or how the Greek national side decides to handle the situation.
But it is definitely of significant concern with the final 8 Premier League games still to play for. The Gunners are in the top four but they are defensively far too weak to hold off both Manchester United and Chelsea without their summer signing.
Sokratis is also in danger of picking up a suspension due to his accumulated yellow cards. He is one warning away from picking up a 2-game ban.
Unai Emery might choose to rest the veteran for the upcoming fixture against Newcastle United than to potentially lose him against Watford and Everton.
