Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos has said that he is not returning to Greece. The Greek defender signed for Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund last summer on a transfer fee of £17.6 million. So far, the 30-year old has made 30 appearances for the club so far, scoring twice and assisting as many times.

The centre-back began his senior career at AEK Athens and spent three years at the club. Sokratis made 58 appearances for AEK Athens, scoring two goals and providing an assist.

Speaking to Sport24, Sokratis said, “I still have a few more years. “I believe three or four more years. Three or four years ago I was thinking about coming back to Greece for a year to end my career.

Now I will say no, I will not return to Greece. I don’t think about coming back to Greece. I would rather go to America or China or somewhere else for the experience rather than going back to Greece.

Many AEK fans will be sad, but I am not thinking about coming back to Greece.”
