Arsenal face competition with Man City and Man United for Premier League midfielder

Manager Eddie Howe is not sure that Guimaraes will stay at Newcastle beyond this summer’s transfer window.

Arsenal are in search for a new midfielder and they are eyeing the signature of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. They will face competition from Man City and Man United in pursuit of 26-year-old talent.

Guimaraes has become a regular first-team player at St James’ Park since joining from Lyon in the winter of 2022. He has scored 14 goals and 14 assists in 101 appearances across all competitions.

The Brazilian will see his contract expire in the summer of 2028. He expressed his desire to “stay much longer” at the Magpies. CEO Darren Eales admitted this year that the club may be forced to sell star players to balance their squad.

Manager Eddie Howe is also not sure that Guimaraes will stay at St James’ Park beyond this summer’s transfer window. Man City have also identified him as their primary midfield target ahead of the new season. Their city-rivals Man United are already in the race.

Chelsea, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also planning to get him in the summer. As per the reports of the Sun, the Gunners are considering a summer move for Guimaraes.

Arsenal are not sure about Thomas Partey, Jorginho, Charlie Patino and Mohamed Elneny. Their future is not uncertain. Elneny is out of contract in the summer. Jorginho, Patino and Partey have all been linked with other clubs.
