Arsenal Facing Strong Competition For Unai Nunez

Arsenal could be facing serious competition for their defender target this summer, Unai Nunez.

Mikel Arteta is likely to strengthen his defensive lineup even if he has a lot of options at hand.

His short spell on the Emirates hot seat has revealed that the current squad is simply not good enough to match up to some of the top Premier League sides. While there are plenty of players to pick up defensively responsibilities, almost none are fit enough to lead that feeble backline.

Dayot Upamecano has been touted to be Arsenal’s top target but RB Leipzig might hold up for a ridiculous sum of cash. Athletic Bilbao’s Unai Nunez is the second choice, tipped to be available for much cheaper with a release clause of £27m. The problem is West Ham United and Everton have shortlisted the centre-back as well.

Nunez has been impressed this season and even earned a callup to the Spain national side in September. Atletico do not consider him to their most important defender and hence, might be open to a sale. AS Monaco and AC Milan are also expressing interest in the 23-year-old who has 22 appearances to his name this campaign.
