Declan Rice, a midfielder for West Ham United, is expected to join with Arsenal this summer at the Emirates Stadium

In the trade market, Mikel Arteta hopes to bolster his already-impressive Arsenal team with a midfielder. Arsenal has reportedly designated Rice as their top summer goal and is growing more confident in securing a deal worth £80 million for his services, as reported by The Times back in January.

The Irons captain’s £60,000 per week deal at the London Stadium has less than 18 months left in it, though the east London club does have the possibility of a 12-month extension.

Football.Despite interest from Chelsea and Manchester United, London reporter Kaya Kaynak recently told GIVEMESPORT that Arsenal are “hoping” to acquire the 24-year-old this summer. And according to Jacobs, if West Ham is relegated this season, Rice’s asking price could be drastically reduced, allowing the Gunners to possibly acquire him for less than the £80 million currently being reported.

Rice has made 34 appearances this season while scoring twice and contributing four assists in both domestic and European football, making up almost half of West Ham’s busy schedule. The 39-cap England international is the best-performing player in David Moyes’ squad this season, earning an average WhoScored grade of 6.96 for his performances in the Premier League, underscoring how crucial he is to the London Stadium team.

The 6-foot-1 superstar outperforms his positional peers in some areas of his game, ranking in the top 4% of midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues, including the Champions League and Europa League, for interceptions (1.88), and the top 8% for pass success rate per 90 minutes (88.8%), over the past 365 days.
