Following Sunday’s match between Arsenal and Crystal Palace, Mikel Arteta updated the injury circumstances involving Takehiro Tomiyasu and William Saliba

On Sunday, Arsenal defeated Crystal Palace with ease, but the supporters are still anxiously awaiting the outcomes of Takehiro Tomiyasu and William Saliba’s injury evaluations.

Since Saliba is a member of Arsenal’s starting squad, the injury to Tomiyasu makes it more difficult for Ben White to step in as a replacement.

Mikel Arteta will hope to have at least one of his defensive alternatives available as soon as possible, even though Rob Holding did a fine job against Crystal Palace. In that regard, Arteta provided reports on Tomiyasu and Saliba after Sunday’s game, but the latter’s situation does not appear encouraging.

Arteta sounded a little more upbeat when speaking of Saliba. Following his original call-up by France, Saliba has now withdrawn from his international duty with Japan as had Tomiyasu.

The timing of the international break has been advantageous, as it will allow the two stars to miss fewer club games overall. In 13 days, Leeds United will play host to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Saliba being back in stock by then would be a huge help.
