Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus talked about his role in the club and he hinted at frustration so far this season. The Brazilian has been asked to play wide on various occasions.

The former City man started on the left wing against both Spurs and Bournemouth. Later, he was used on the right against his former club last weekend.

Injury hurt him a lot in the past few months and he hasn’t started in the Premier League in the number nine role. Meanwhile, he has started both Champions League matches upfront.

The Brazilian was primarily asked to play on the wing after he moved to England in January 2017. Jesus later admitted to skipping the pre-match meal because he was in his room crying and on the phone to his mother.

He made a summer move for Arsenal last season but he couldn’t get a chance to play as a central striker.

He spoke about this during his international duty, “When I chose to transfer from City to Arsenal, Edu [Gaspar] and [Mikel] Arteta spoke to me, and I made it clear that I would like to play as a ‘nine’.

“This was Arsenal’s idea, for me to play as a nine, loose. This season has been different, we have had injuries, and in the last three games, I played on the wing. For a while, I thought about saying that I want to play as a nine, but I’m here to help the team. I am blessed by God to have this talent and the versatility to play in the three front positions. I prefer not to choose.”
