Lemar has previously been linked with the Gunners.

Now, they seem to have been given a significant boost.

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing out-of-favour Atletico Madrid forward Thomas Lemar in January. Spanish newspaper AS cite reports that the English side are interested in the Frenchman struggles in his time in La Liga.

The France international became the club’s record signing, but has since been displaced by Joao Felix, when he joined the club from Monaco in the summer of 2018 in a €60 million deal. The 24-year-old is no longer a regular in Diego Simeone’s side and has yet to score or register an assist to date this campaign.

Lemar has made 62 appearances for Los Rojiblancos but he has managed to find the net just three times across that spell, which has been underwhelming. This could mean an opportunity for him to revive his career at Arsenal, however, as ESPN suggest the Gunners are considering him as one option to strengthen their attack this January.

Mikel Arteta certainly looks in need of new blood in this Arsenal squad after recently coming in as the club’s new manager, inheriting a team on an awful run of form and relying on a number of academy players.
