Gabriel Jesus, an Arsenal forward, participated in complete practise with the Gunners on Wednesday, giving the team a huge boost as the season nears its conclusion

Jesus, who cost Manchester City £45 million, moved to north London in July and led Arsenal’s first sincere attempt to capture the Premier League title in 15 years. Prior to the World Cup break, the Brazilian made 14 league appearances, contributed to 11 goals, and usually held the young Arsenal front line together.

Jesus, however, has been sidelined ever since suffering a knee injury while representing his nation at a tournament in Qatar. He missed 14 games across all categories while he recovered. Jesus has been improving, and manager Mikel Arteta recently stated that Jesus is “not very near but he’s not far at all” from returning to action.

Prior to this week’s first leg of the Europa League last 16 match against Sporting CP, the four-time Premier League champion made a substantial improvement by participating fully in training with his teammates for the first time in nearly four months. Leandro Trossard and Eddie Nketiah, two other attackers, were unable to participate due to injuries, and left-back Kieran Tierney was forced to stay home due to illness.

There had been worry that Jesus’ lengthy absence could derail Arsenal’s promising season. The Gunners had only lost five points in the Premier League out of a potential 42 at the time he was ruled out. However, despite a setback in early February, they have recovered and continue to lead Manchester City by five points in the standings.

The goals have remained distributed, with Gabriel Martinelli and Nketiah both contributing significantly and taking their opportunities. But since the World Cup, Bukayo Saka in particular has stepped up, participating in nine straight goals in 12 Premier League games.
