Arsenal has surpassed Manchester City to take the top spot among football clubs in terms of player market value

Since Mikel Arteta became the Gunners’ manager in 2019, the team has improved. In his first full league season in charge, they finished eighth, and they narrowly missed the top four in the 2021–2022 season.

The north London juggernauts performed better than expected to place second last season, just behind Manchester City. For almost eight months, they were in prime position to win the Premier League championship, but they faltered towards the finish.

Despite this, the squad is improving under Arteta, and as of right now, they are the most valuable team ($1.21 billion), surpassing the Cityzens ($1.19 billion). The €231 million they spent on transfers this summer placed them ahead of Cityzens, but there has also been a sharp increase in the value of a number of players in the first-team lineup.

Bukayo Saka’s graduation from the academy didn’t incur any transfer fees at all. The 21-year-old has grown stronger and stronger, and his current market value is an astounding €120 million. Gabriel Martinelli, meanwhile, was just acquired from Ituano four years ago for €7 million. By Transfermarkt’s current price, the Brazilian is only €10 million more expensive than recently acquired Declan Rice.

Another player whose stock worth has increased in recent years is Martin Odegaard. The club captain’s current market value is €90 million following his best-ever season at Arsenal. Without trophies, having the most valuable team is meaningless. With one of the most promising young rosters in world football, this should be Arteta’s next area of attention. With an average age of 25, the Gunners’ current Premier League roster is among the youngest. Cedric Soares, Thomas Partey, and Rob Holding are probably leaving, so this might become worse.
