Arsenal have initiated talks to sign 18-year-old Emmanuel Mbemba from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, as the Premier League champions target the French youth captain on a bargain deal.

Arsenal Approach PSG to Sign Highly-Rated French Teenager Emmanuel Mbemba

The Athletic reports that the Gunners have held internal discussions about bringing the France U19 international to the Emirates Stadium.

With Mbemba’s contract expiring on June 30, Arsenal can secure the talented defender for a minimal training compensation fee expected to be just over £150,000.

The 18-year-old primarily plays as a centre-back but can also operate at left-back, a versatility that appeals to manager Mikel Arteta.

The teenager recently captained PSG’s U19 side to French Youth Cup success at the Stade de France and has impressed scouts with what Como scout Ben Mattinson describes as a ‘dominant’ playing style.

PSG have offered the defender a professional contract extension, but Mbemba remains open to a Premier League move. He favours Arsenal, attracted by the stability and success Arteta has built at the club.

The north London outfit plan to loan Mbemba to a European club until January 2027, allowing him to secure regular playing time and complete work permit requirements for England.

Arsenal point to William Saliba’s successful development path as a model the Frenchman joined the Gunners young, gained experience on several loans, and emerged as one of the world’s elite defenders.

Arsenal continue to balance first-team recruitment with long-term youth development.

Alongside Mbemba, the club have added Colombian twins Edwin and Holger Quintero and remain active in pursuing other elite prospects.

If Arsenal finalise the deal, Mbemba will become the latest addition to their growing collection of promising young talent.
