Jeremie Frimpong is expected to leave Bayer Leverkusen this January.

The 23-year-old defender has been one of the promising defenders in the Bundesliga and has been established as one of the best full-backs in the game.

He was widely expected to leave the club last summer but he penned a contract extension until the summer of 2028.

Frimpong has been linked with a move this January with several Premier League clubs like Aston Villa, Arsenal and Chelsea interested in the 23-year-old.

The Gunners have sent scouts to monitor the situation of the Netherland international.

According to BILD, the £34m release clause in Frimpong’s new contract will become activated in the summer.

The Dutchman has been one of the stand-out performers in this impressive Xabi Alonso side and it is no surprise he’s linked with many Premier League giants.

The Leverkusen defender is still quite young and he is only going to get better with coaching and experience.

The full-back has chipped in seven strikes and 10 assists in 22 outings so far this campaign.

The opportunity to play in the Premier League will be an attractive option for Jeremie Frimpong and Arsenal could strike a deal in the coming weeks.
