Arsenal Join Race To Sign Out-Of-Contract Manchester United Midfielder

In the latest round of transfer news, Arsenal have drawn links to out-of-contract Manchester United midfielder, Ander Herrera.

The Spaniard’s deal with the Red Devils is about to end this June and he has already received an offer worth £150,000-per-week from Paris Saint-Germain.

Talks with United over a potential extension has reportedly stalled with the Ligue 1 giants making ground on a free transfer. However, nothing has been finalised yet and the Gunners can swoop in with a convincing offer.

The only hiccup is that Unai Emery can approach his compatriot only after he has been released by United and not prior to that, giving PSG the edge on this trade.

Herrera has proven to be a very gritty and crafty defensive figure in midfield and has burst into life recently under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. If the Norwegian manager’s contract is renewed at Old Trafford on a permanent basis it is expected of him to try to keep Herrera as well.

Arsenal are in need of a replacement for Aaron Ramsey who is set to depart for Juventus after this season. Herrera does not necessarily fit the exact style of the Welshman or has his exact skill set.

But the 29-year-old does have experience in the Premier League. He told El Periodico, “I do not concern myself with what will happen in four months, so I do not know if my time here is over.

“It’s logical when you’ve got three months left on your contact and there is an international break. I knew something would come out.

“I take it as normal. I focus on playing football in the month-and-a-half that remains (of the season). The rest is left to my agent, both the possible renewal with United and any talks with another club for my departure.”
