Whatever happens up until the conclusion of the season, Arsenal will have a busy summer
Arsenal must concentrate on finishing the season as strongly as possible after suffering three draws and a devastating 4-1 loss to the league’s defending champions on Wednesday. It now appears like they will fall terribly short of winning the Premier League. The Gunners will believe they are an appealing choice for any player looking for a new challenge because Champions League football is all but guaranteed for next season.
Mason Mount, a midfielder for Chelsea, is one player whose future is up in the air and who might be traded at the end of the current campaign. Todd Boehly will probably sell the England international if a contract extension cannot be reached before the end of the current campaign. Boehly won’t want to take the chance of losing one of his most valued players for nothing the next season.
According to a recent claim from the Daily Mail, Arsenal are now seeking to ‘rival’ the Reds for Chelsea’s number 19, even though Mount, 24, is still frequently linked with a move to Liverpool given that Jurgen Klopp is reportedly planning a midfield reconstruction.
It’s interesting to note that Arsenal will also make some outgoings this summer, with the first team quartet of Reiss Nelson, Kieran Tierney, and Granit Xhaka among those up for sale. Folarin Balogun and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, a loan team, are also anticipated to part ways.
The likely departures of Nelson and Tierney are not unexpected, given neither were regulars under Arteta, but Xhaka has remained a crucial component of the Londoners’ title defence. A departure by the 30-year-old after seven years at the club would represent real change and highlight how much Arteta is focused on the future. The Switzerland international has formed a strong midfield partnership with Thomas Partey and club captain Martin Odegaard.
