Arsenal keen to avoid Chelsea tussle with Raphinha alternative
According to reports,”whispers” that Arsenal is interested in signing Raheem Sterling, but they don’t want to compete with Chelsea, who can offer him a larger salary.
Raphinha, a forward for Leeds United, was reportedly a target for us, but it now appears that he will choose between Barcelona or Chelsea.
We could have to go up against the Blues again in our pursuit of Sterling, but given our pay structure and Chelsea’s potential greater ability to satisfy his demands, we aren’t optimistic about a deal at the moment.
Transfer insider Jones claims that rumours regarding our attempts to sign him are circulating, though.
There have been rumours that Arsenal may pursue Sterling, but there is very little possibility that they will do so in order to exact revenge on Chelsea for their offer for Raphinha.
“The salaries are the major problem, not the level they’re at. They reportedly can’t compete with his wage level.
Even though I’d like want to see Sterling join, I don’t know whether we could fulfil his expectations or if he fits with our current transfer strategy.
I’m not getting my hopes up right now, but we could have showed him enough ambition this summer to convince him we mean business heading into the new season.
