Arsenal are reported as being the side in the ‘lead’ for the race to sign Juventus defender Merih Demiral this summer. According to Calciomercato, however, it currently looks unlikely that the talented 21-year-old will be on the move this summer
The defender had stepped up when the Bianconeri needed it the most and cut a promising figure in the heart of the defence. He replaced Matthijs de Ligt and partnered Leonardo Bonucci until he injured his ACL during a 2-1 win against Roma and was ruled out for the rest of the season.
It has already been two months since the fatal moment at the Olimpico, when Demiral landed heavily after jumping for a header. However, Arsenal may have missed the boat. With Juve looking to tie him down to a new deal and having upped their asking price for the defender, The Gunners may be blocked in their bid to sign him.
