According to the latest reports, Arsenal are looking to pull a leaf out of Liverpool’s books and sign a highly rated custodian to stiffen up the defence line.
Tutto Mercato claims that the Gunners lining up a €70m fee for AC Milan goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The 20-year-old is one of the most sought after young goalkeepers in the world which led to his asking price being this steep. He has played in every single one of AC Milan’s Serie A games since the 2015/16 season, making 164 appearances in total.
Donnarumma has also earned 12 senior caps for his country and is projected to be the next to succeed into Gianluigi Buffon’s spot. The Rossoneri will have to sell their best assets this summer not just to raise money for themselves but for also to meet Financial Fair Play regulations.
The report claims that Arsenal’s bid for Donnarumma will be turned down if they fail to win the Europa League on Thursday night.
You should take this news with a bit of salt since Unai Emery has already found a world beater in Bernd Leno. The £19.3m signing from the Bundesliga has turned out to be the Gunners’ saviour in between the post and is more than capable of manning the number one spot.
Arsenal’s transfer budget is expected to be lower than Donnarumma’s price tag and it is unlikely that Emery will blow it all up on just one player.
