The latest reports state that Arsenal have tabled an offer for former Nice defender, Malang Sarr.
The Ligue 1 club revealed on their official social media pages that the 21-year-old has left the club.
Sarr broke into the Nice first team as a teenager and played a key part in them finishing fifth this season. He made 19 appearances this campaign, completing 90% of his passes and averaging 4 long balls.
Arsenal are desperately looking for improvements to their defensive lineup. Mikel Arteta has got the best out of the current lineup, reducing the goal concession drastically since taking over. But the overall lack of quality has shown in some of the match results, branding them unlikely to return the side to a top-four spot.
Dayot Upamecano still remains high on Arsenal’s wishlist but the RB Leipzig man will cost a pretty penny. The Gunners cannot possibly spend that much on one player, making free deals and exchange pieces more realistic. Sarr is wanted by plenty of other clubs as well, RB Leipzig being one of them.
Arsenal has a number of players they can offload to make way for new faces. Sokratis Papastathopoulos is clearly not fitted to Arteta’s style of play, having started zero games since the season restart. Rob Holding, Calum Chambers, Shkodran Mustafi are all uncertain about their futures while David Luiz is clearly into the final year of his contract.
