According to Sport, Yannick Carrasco has received an offer from Arsenal to come and join the Premier League outfit.
The winger has been on Arsenal’s radar for quite some time now, some reports claiming that the Gunners had expressed interest back in January as well. Unai Emery had his hands tied with financial constraints and decided to opt for Denis Suarez’s loan signing from Barcelona instead.
As it turned out, the Spanish midfielder was no good at the Emirates and the wide positions need to be filled by a more able professional. Carrasco was quickly emerging as one of Europe’s top midfielders during his time with AS Monaco and Atletico Madrid before he decided to pick a big-money move to China.
After two seasons in the Far East, the 25-year-old is ready to make his return to European football.
“There is now an offer on the table and the negotiations with my agent are progressing well,” he revealed to the press. “I am the most important player in the club, but I hope the chairman understands me.”
Carrasco offered his reasons behind leaving China and said, “From a family point of view, I would rather play in Europe and stay closer to my family. The adjustment for my family was also difficult over there.
“I have become a lot more mature and have learned a lot. Also on the field, where I had to take my responsibility and the team had to bear. But my wish now is to return.”
