According to a source, Newcastle United is considering bringing Leandro Trossard, an Arsenal winger, to St. James’ Park during the summer transfer window. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta called the Belgium international winger “exceptional” and praised his “level of consistency” in January 2026. Trossard has been a key member of the team this season.
Trossard, a 31-year-old who has made 18 Premier League starts and four Champions League starts for Arsenal this season, has been Arteta’s favoured choice at left wing over Gabriel Martinelli. So far this season, Trossard has scored seven goals and provided eight assists for the Gunners in 38 games across all competitions.
The former Brighton & Hove Albion winger’s contract with Arsenal expires in the summer of 2027, but there are currently rumours that the Gunners may trade him. Sports Boom claims that Arsenal may “start talks for a possible sale” of Trossard “at the £20 million–£25 million level”.
Arsenal open to selling exceptional winger
Arsenal may open negotiations for a potential sale of Trossard at the £20 million–£25 million level, according to Sports Boom. According to the report, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are interested in the winger. Trossard would seamlessly fit into manager Unai Emery’s system, according to Villa.
Trossard would be a terrific addition for Eddie Howe’s team, and Newcastle wants to strengthen their offensive unit. The Magpies’ interest in Trossard coincides with Anthony Gordon’s uncertain future. Gordon is a left-winger, just like Trossard, and the England international may be leaving St. James’ Park this summer.
Interestingly, Arsenal is one among the teams interested in signing Gordon in the summer of 2026. According to our pals at TEAMtalk, Arsenal is willing to spend £75 million for Gordon. As a long-time admirer of the Newcastle player, Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, is personally interested in a move for the 25-year-old.
