Arsenal needs a prolific striker to compete with the likes of Man City.
The Gunners has been told to sign a new striker as they were told that Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah are not capable of closing the gap to league champions Manchester City.
Arsenal had a dream start to the 2023/24 campaign and are unbeaten in their last six games in all competitions.
They have scored nine goals in their opening five league games, out of which only three came from Jesus and Nketiah.
Ex-Arsenal player Emmanuel Petit believes Arteta needs someone like Erling Haaland to close the gap to Guardiola’s side.
“Arsenal already have two very good strikers in Nketiah and Jesus, but they are not typical goalscorers. If Arsenal want to go a step further, then they need a pure striker – someone who can get 30 goals in a season,” Petit said.
“Look at Guardiola. He thought he could win the Champions League without a No 9. He then changed his mind, signed a goalscorer, and won it by the end of that season.
“The aim of football is to score goals and win. I like Jesus, but he needs a few chances to score. Arsenal are lacking a prolific scorer.”
