Arsenal outcast is the best defender in his position

Kieran Tierney has struggled for game time at the Emirates this campaign.

The Scottish defender lost his regular spot to summer arrival Oleksandr Zinchenko who has been in brilliant form for the Gunners in his debut campaign.

He has played second fiddle to Zinchenko this season and was a crowd favourite among Arsenal’s fans.

Tierney is yet to start a game for Mikel Arteta’s XI since Boxing Day.

Even though Tierney is back to full fitness, he is not getting a nod over the Ukrainian in the left-back position.

Many sources reported that the left-back would push for an exit at the end of this season.

Frank McAvennie tells Football Insider: “Real Madrid were looking at Tierney. I think he is the best left-back in the Premier League, I think he is different class.

“Arsenal are not playing him at left-back because they are playing Zinchenko instead but he is not as defensively-minded as Tierney.

“Going to Newcastle would be a great piece of business, I think he would definitely strengthen the defence. They have got the money to go and spend and get Tierney.”
