Arsenal launches audacious bid for Goncalo Inacio amidst Liverpool interest
Arsenal is apparently preparing to make a move for Sporting CP’s prized center-back, Goncalo Inacio, from Premier League rivals Liverpool.
Since arriving into Sporting’s first team in 2020, the 22-year-old defensive veteran has caught the interest of top-tier clubs with his outstanding performances.
While Liverpool has been studying Inacio for months and Manchester United has been watching him for their center-back lineup, Arsenal are determined to sign the Portuguese international.
According to A Bola, the Gunners have stepped up their efforts to sign Inacio and are set to activate his €60 million release clause in the coming January transfer window.
Arsenal, well aware of the competition for Inacio’s services, stays steadfast in their search, ready to pay top dollar for the left-sided defender.
The move is viewed as a smart move to strengthen their backline, giving a perfect partner for William Saliba as well as competition for Gabriel Magalhaes.
Sporting CP is seemingly interested in Famalicao’s Otavio as a replacement for Inacio, who is expected to leave. Flamengo’s left-field addition might be the ideal fit to fill the vacuum left by Inacio’s departure.
Inacio’s abilities is clearly gaining interest from big European teams, as described by Olympiacos manager Carlos Carvalhal as a ‘complete defender’ in a recent interview with Spanish daily AS.
As the January transfer window gets closer, Arsenal’s attempt to sign Inacio ahead of Liverpool adds to the continuing transfer controversy.
