Arsenal have been closely linked with Barcelona’s Denis Suarez leading up to the January transfer window. It seems like a battle is set to ensue between the Gunners and Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea in the coming weeks.
Latest reports suggest that the 24-year-old has already put forth a transfer request due to his scarce involvement with the first team. Barcelona might be contempt to let go of the central midfielder for a bid in the region of €10-€15m.
Arsenal could lead the race since their contract fallout with Welsh ace, Aaron Ramsey. Since making five additions to the Gunners squad in the summer, Unai Emery has not let up on future additions. While Suarez might not be a like-for-like replacement of Ramsey, they both usually like to operate from the same position.
Suarez is technically adept at making plays from the centre of the pitch. His inspiring performances for Villareal earned him a call-up to the Nou Camp in the summer of 2016. Unfortunately, the Spaniard could not make the cut ahead of players such as Philippe Coutinho, Ivan Rakitic, Arthur Melo, Sergio Busquets and Arturo Vidal.
With just over 200 minutes of game time registered this term, Suarez might just be ready to seek greener pastures elsewhere, just like his former teammate, Andre Gomes. His contract is set to run for just one more season.
