Arsenal and West Ham United are nearing an agreement on the financial structure for the signing of Declan Rice, which should be completed by Monday
On Friday afternoon, Jacob Steinberg revealed that talks about the payment mechanism for Declan Rice’s £105 million move to Arsenal were nearly completed.
Jordan Davies then stated that people close to the project were hoping for a payment arrangements agreement by Monday. Mikel Arteta is said to be eager to get Rice fully integrated at Arsenal before the club’s pre-season tour of the United States, which begins on July 20th.
Sami Mokbel says that Arsenal and West Ham are now finalising the deal, while Fabrizio Romano reports that the agreement is now “really, really close,” with Rice expected to join Arsenal very soon. Despite the delays, it appears that everything is heading in the right direction. Arsenal sought to spread the payment over four or five years, whilst the Hammers wanted to collect the entire guaranteed price within 18 months.
Despite the need to compromise, there has never been any indication that the motion will fail due to this issue. David Ornstein recently revealed that Arsenal will do whatever it takes to complete the transaction, having agreed a fee, and that the transfer “should be completed in due course.”
Manchester City have stated that they will not match Arsenal’s proposal, leaving only a move to north London or a stay at West Ham as viable possibilities. Rice is presently on vacation after completing a long season with a couple of international games. Over the last year, the 24-year-old has made 50 appearances for West Ham and 11 for England.
