The 19-year-old operates from the wings, usually from the right and is worth around €30m. He recently extended his contract to stay with the Tricolour outfit till the summer of 2023.
Ajax are reported to have sent their own scouts to monitor the youngster. It has not been long since Antony got promoted to the Sao Paulo senior squad.
He earned promotion to the senior side on 26 September 2018 along with fellow academy teammates, Helinho and Igor Gomes. The teenager is versatile on the attacking front with a quality left foot.
Understandably, he will need to play more minutes to gain confidence as a player. Arsenal are definitely on the lookout for talented wingers after losing Alexis Sanchez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott in the recent past.
Unai Emery, however, could use a more proven signing to really drive his team’s attack next season. Splashing out such a sizeable fee for just a prospect might not be ideal for the club’s immediate needs which is to qualify for the Champions League and potentially even challenge for the title next term.
The Gunners are currently 5th in the league standings and are about to take on Rennes for their Europa League fixture on Thursday.
