Arsenal star is determined to impress for the club

The player joined the Gunners in the summer

Arsenal completed the signing of Bernd Leno for a reported fee of around £19 million, signing a 5 year contract back in June. He was signed as a long term of successor of Petr Cech.

He was a mainstay for the German club in the past couple of seasons, making more than 300 appearances. He developed himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world during his time at Bundesliga.

The 26 year old was named in Germany’s provisional squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, but was not selected in the final 23-man squad.

It was expected that the Germany International will be the Gunners’ first choice goalkeeper this season but new manager Unai Emery has preferred Cech ahead of him in all the Premier League fixtures so far.

The German goalkeeper made his debut against Vorskla Poltava in the Europa League as the London Outfit won the 4-2. However, he replaced the veteran goalkeeper as a second-half substitute in Saturday’s Premier League win over Watford after the former Chelsea star got injured.

Leno will get his opportunities in the matches and he is determined to impress for the club. He is eager to make the most of his opening to lay his stamp down.

“Now Petr is injured – I don’t know how long for – I have the opportunity to play more games and show the coach my quality,” he said as quoted by Goal. “It is a big chance for me.

“I don’t want to say it wrong that I am happy for Petr to be injured. I think always it is a bad feeling, so I feel sorry for him.

“But, now I have more opportunities to play and I will concentrate on the games.”
