During the summer transfer window, Arsenal’s midfield dynamo Kai Havertz revealed his quick choice to swap his Chelsea blue for the red of the Gunners.
The German maestro, whose £65 million move grabbed supporters’ interest, revealed that his rapid change was fuelled by captivating conversations with Arsenal’s sporting director Edu and manager Mikel Arteta.
Havertz, 24, recognized the necessity for a quick transition to his new footballing home, illustrating the “amazing” exchanges between him, Edu, and Arteta.
He said: “I think it all had to go very fast. Think it was just (on) my holidays and then we were speaking to the guys from Arsenal and it was an opportunity to do it then so we just did it. You know the whole process was nice.”
“I had some chats with Edu and with the manager and all the chats were amazing and they gave me such good feelings. So, (I) just wanted to do it as quickly as possible and maybe that’s why it happened so fast.”
Despite initial challenges with adjusting to Arsenal’s playing style, Havertz proved his worth with a crucial assist against Manchester City and, more recently, an explosive late winner against Brentford.
The Arsenal fans, who have welcomed the midfielder, expressed gratitude in the terraces with rousing cheers. Havertz, pushed by his recent match-winning heroics, is ready to carve out a new role in Arsenal’s squad.
Arsenal fans are looking forward to seeing more flashes of brilliance from their dynamic German acquisition in the coming games as he continues to adjust.
