Nuno Tavares is currently on loan with Nottingham Forest.

The Gunners are open to selling outcasted defender Nuno Tavares on a permanent deal this summer.

The left-back was signed from Benfica for a fee of around £7million in the summer of 2021.

He struggled to make a significant impact at the Emirates and spent the last season on loan with French club Marseille.

The Ligue 1 outfit were keen to sign the Portuguese defender last summer but Arsenal were initially reluctant to let the player go.

Mikel Arteta is now keen to offload the defender as selling an unwanted player like Tavares would help them with the Financial Fair Play regulations.

The 23-year-old full-back joined Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan and have the option to make the deal permanent for £12m.

But that seems highly unlikely as Tavares hardly played for Forest making just six appearances in all competitions this season.

Marseille are keen to sign Tavares on a permanent deal this January but Forest have no intention of sending the struggling defender to his parent club Arsenal.

The Gunners failed to insert a re-call clause into the Portuguese defender’s contract and they would now struggle to facilitate a permanent departure in this winter window.
