Arsenal target, Houssem Auoar is set to leave Olympique Lyon this summer, confirmed sporting director, Juninho.
The suspension of league football early has created financial havock amongst most French outfits. Plenty of teams will be looking at an exodus of start players just to keep themselves through this global pandemic.
That means, prominent names like Auoar, Memphis Deepay and Moussa Dembele could very well depart from Lyon in bargain deals. So far, Arsenal and Manchester City are the favourites for Auoar who is valued at €50m (£44m). Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas insisted in April that the club will try to keep hold of the midfielder.
“Houssem has not said he wants to leave,” Aulas said. “We want to try to keep him even though the interest is considerable. There are no negotiations ongoing.”
However, Juninho revealed that the player’s future at Lyon is over. He said, “Houssem Aouar? When you have great players in the squad, it is quite logical that other bigger teams with greater economic power come to seek the players. There is a risk of losing important players. If we lose important players, I have already spoken with the president, we will have the right to balance the workforce.”
