Arsenal told to try signing Ivan Toney next summer

Ivan Toney would be a dream signing for Mikel Arteta.

The Brentford forward is one of the most prolific strikers in the English league and has netted 20 goals in the 2022/23 campaign.

Toney is currently serving an eight-month ban for breaching the Premier League’s betting rules and will only return in January.

Rivals Chelsea also consider him as a potential target but Arsenal would be a perfect destination for the 27-year-old striker.

Gabriel Jesus isn’t clinical in the final third and bagged only 11 Premier League goals last term.

The Gunners need a new center-forward to compete with Jesus and former Arsenal player Jay Bothroyd has urged to sign Ivan Toney in January.

He said: “[Toney’s] an A for me, he scores goals, he’s prolific, he’s strong, he leads the line really well. If you put him in one of the top teams he will score at least 20 Premier League goals per season.

“Great on penalties, penalties he’s unbelievable. If you took him to someone like Arsenal, I would love Arsenal to sign him now.

“I think he would score more goals than Jesus, than Ollie Watkins, in the Premier League.”
