According to sources, Arsenal has been “offered” the opportunity to sign Ademola Lookman, a winger for Atalanta, this summer as they search for another attacker. Six new players have joined the Gunners so far, making them one of the busiest clubs in the summer transfer window.
In anticipation of what might be an exciting new season for Mikel Arteta’s team, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, and Viktor Gyokeres have all joined Arsenal.
Arsenal supporters are hopeful that this year will finally be their year to win the Premier League, as the team looks to halt a streak of three consecutive seasons in which they have finished as runners-up.
Eberechi Eze, an offensive midfielder for Crystal Palace, has been strongly connected to the Gunners, who are currently searching for more new players while also letting go of some of its peripheral players.
Lookman, a former Everton winger, has also been mentioned as a possible target, and according to Italian writer Nicolo Schira, the player has now been “offered” to Arsenal this summer.
Arsenal could look to strike up a deal for Ademola Lookman
According to the Atalanta CEO, Lookman will be allowed to depart this summer, but only to elite teams outside of Serie A. According to The Guardian, Luca Percassi stated, “We negotiated the agreement with Lookman a year ago after turning down a €20 million offer from PSG.” The club is always cautious when assessing the timing and worth of its players, but ultimately, Atalanta makes the final decision.
According to The Guardian, Lookman is a target for Atletico Madrid and Napoli. According to the source, after an initial proposal of €40 million (£34.7 million) for the striker was rejected, Inter Milan’s upgraded offer of €45 million (£32.1 million), including add-ons, was rejected last week.
Journalist Jordan Davies of The Sun claims that Arsenal is monitoring Lookman’s status at Atalanta in case they lose out on Eberechi Eze. According to the report, Leandro Trossard may be leaving the Emirates Stadium when a new forward arrives.
The Italian team reportedly wants Lookman for at least £45 million. The Nigerian international has filed an official transfer request; his contract at the Gewiss Stadium expires in June 2027.
