On deadline day, Arsenal was considering a third offer for Moises Caicedo of Brighton & Hove Albion

The Gunners made two unsuccessful attempts to recruit the 21-year-old, but ultimately decided to sign Jorginho. On the deadline day, CBS reporter Ben Jacobs informed GMS that Arsenal had unquestionably not returned to Brighton with a third offer for Caicedo.

Earlier, the trustworthy Fabrizio Romano said that the north London club had made two offers for the Ecuadorian, one of which was worth £70 million. Mikel Arteta would have been sad to not be able to sign Caicedo, but at least he was able to bolster his team with Jorginho.

Brighton reportedly put a £100 million price tag on Caicedo at one point during the January transfer window, according to The Times. Jones has however admitted to GMS that no amount of cash would be able to free him from the Amex Stadium on deadline day.

Caicedo was undoubtedly someone Arteta would have wanted to have on his team. In the heart of the park, the Ecuadorian international has a lot of sway. He made three tackles, for instance, in Brighton’s excellent 3-0 victory against Liverpool last month. No member of Roberto De Zerbi’s crew was able to earn more; Joel Veltman and Pascal Gross both had the same earnings for the day.

Leandro Trossard, a former Brighton teammate of Caicedo’s, and Jorginho, a very seasoned midfielder who is also quite familiar with the Premier League, have both been signed by Arsenal. Jakub Kiwior also arrived, indicating that Arteta was able to improve his defence, midfield, and attack while still in the thick of a title fight. Overall, the Gunners had a successful transfer window.
