Arsenal reportedly would not be against a potential sale of their club captain.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has performed poorly in the 2020/21 season according to his standards.
The Telegraph claimed that there are whispers surrounding the forward’s future at North London. After a subpar campaign, Arsenal wants to move Aubameyang on to make space for fresher talent. But seeing how he is one of Premier League’s highest-earners and 32, it would be difficult to attract suitors.
Morale was high when Aubameyang signed a contract extension last September. He had just guided Arsenal to FA Cup success. Fans were ecstatic to see him commit his future to the club despite The Gunners finishing eighth in the league. Unfortunately, none of that optimistic energy transferred on the pitch.
Aubameyang has found it difficult to match his scoring spree like previous campaigns. Overall, he also looked far less intense on the pitch, struggling to adapt to what Mikel Arteta’s instructions.
If Arsenal were to move Aubameyang on, they will ideally need to sign a replacement. Alexandre Lacazette is 29 now and also has just another season left on his contract. He performed far better than his strike partner but cannot be banked upon to deliver goals on a regular basis.
