Bacary Sagna Tells Arsenal To Do Whatever Is Necessary To Keep Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Bacary Sagna has warned Arsenal about the consequences of losing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to a rival outfit.

He believes that the Gunners should do whatever is necessary to keep their best attacker. Aubameyang’s contract is due to last till June 2021 and Arsenal are currently negotiating terms of a contract extension. Reports claim that the striker’s wage demands are causing shudders within the Emirates headquarters.

“He can’t go now because Arsenal are on the way to building something strong,” Sagna told Goal (via Onefootball). “They can’t afford to lose him. If they have to pay him, then just pay him because if they want someone else of his quality they cost £150m. So don’t spend this £150m, just spend £50m and give it to him. It’s the same as van Persie and I think you have to learn from that situation.”

Aubameyang is second in the Premier League top scorer’s list despite playing for a woefully bad Arsenal side. Many would argue that the Gunners are only in the top four hunt because of him and his incredible scoring rate.

“Auba deserves it,” Sagna continued. “I’m not saying that because of his name or because he has scored a few goals. He’s the best striker in the league.”

Sagna has taken the words right out of the mouth of Arsenal supporters. Losing Aubameyang will be catastrophic to the club’s Champions League ambitions next season and they know it. The main hiccup is being able to afford his rumoured £300,000-per-week wage demands alongside that of Mesut Ozil’s, who banks £350,000-per-week himself.
